About Us
Medterials is a privately held corporation in the San Francisco Bay Area specializing in the development of combination medical products incorporating both a medical device and a drug. Medterials provides design and development of drug administration devices, drug containing coatings, and biodegradable microspheres for drug encapsulation. Materials also provides small scale GMP manufacturing for both medical devices and drug components for rapid transition from product development to clinical development.

Founder/CEO/COO
Stan Conston has over 40 years experience in Lifescience design, development, testing, manufacturing and operations. Stan has been a founder, founding team member, early employee and senior staff member for a variety of LifeScience companies in the Silicon Valley including iScience Interventional, Ross Design Works, Modified Polymer Components, POINT Biomedical and Vitaphore Corp. Stan has also provided consulting services for large and small companies as well as individuals working on novel product ideas. Stan holds over 90 patents and published patent applications in the field and received a degree in Physics from the University of California, Santa Barbara

Ron Yamamoto is an accomplished medical technologist and executive with over 40 years of industry experience. His management experience includes CEO, CSO, VP of R&D and board member positions at iScience Interventional, Biocept, POINT Biomedical and Vitaphore. Ron has been involved in the development of numerous medical products and corporate partnerships in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries. He has a strong background in biomaterial science, biochemistry, and intellectual property strategy. He holds over 40 patents related to medical technologies and products. Ron received his BS degree from the California Institute of Technology in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry and then an MS degree from Clemson University in the study of Biomaterial Engineering and Biochemistry, with postgraduate studies at the University of Southern California in the study of Biochemistry

Tien Nguyen, PhD
Director, Analytical Services
Tien Nguyen has over 30 years of experience in protein isolation and characterization, biochemical activity and screening, drug analysis, analytical method development and product formulations. Tien has been a scientific contributor for several Bay Area companies including Microcide Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Marin Biologic Laboratories, Inc., and iScience Interventional Corporation. Tien has developed numerous analytical characterization methods and assays for biomaterials and drugs using techniques including chromatography, immunoassays, and drug isolation from tissues. Tien earned an undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Cal State University of Los Angeles and a doctorate degree in biochemistry from Johns Hopkins University.

Dillon Martinez
Process Development and Manufacturing Manager
Dillon Martinez has over 20 years experience in biomedical materials. Beginning at DSM Biomedical, Dillon was involved with developing and validating QC methods and characterization of polymers using a variety of chromatography and material testing techniques. After DSM and prior to joining Medterials, Dillon worked on small molecule drug delivery for Heron Therapeutics. Dillon has a BS in Biochemistry and a BA in Classics from University of California, Santa Barbara.

Principle Engineer, Project Management
Bob Bley has over 40 years experience in Medical Device Industry. Over the course of 23 years in various R&D roles, in addition to 14 years as a Manufacturer's Representative for David Schnur Associates in the SF Bay Area, he has learned a wide variety of technologies and the ways they are used in many Lifescience applications. Bob has worked at multiple startups, including Menlo Care and Circulation as well as large corporations such as Johnson and Johnson and American Hospital Supply. He has also worked as Project Leader/Engineer for contract engineering service companies in the catheter industry. Bob has a BS in chemistry and is an avid cyclist.
